Financial Planning

Financial planning always starts with listening. We meet with you to understand your strengths, goals, dreams, and the dangers that could get in the way. After our initial meeting, if we decide that there is a mutual fit, we schedule additional sessions to dive deeper into the discovery process so we can see the full picture of your life and your money.

Your Written Plan

From this discovery we create a written, hard bound financial plan that is unique to you. This custom-made set of projections is practical and specific to your financial situation. It shows how the pieces fit together and what to do next. As time goes by, we update it when needed as life changes.

What Your Plan Considers

Your plan reflects the realities you face today and the ones you are likely to face tomorrow. Some of the leading things that we account for include the following:

  • Rising living expenses due to inflation
  • Income and investment taxes
  • Historical return assumptions for planning purposes
  • Health care costs before Medicare eligibility at age 65
  • Pension lump sum versus annuity analysis
  • Timing of Social Security benefits
  • Savings strategies that support your goals

From Plan to Portfolio

Only once the plan is in place do we begin to invest. Our team includes a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) working closely with a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). All investment management is performed in house. Our Balanced Portfolio Strategy uses an actively managed mix of individual stocks and exchange traded funds (ETFs) across equities, bonds, precious metals, and select alternative investments. We do not use mutual funds, annuities, or insurance products.

Tax Planning

Good planning and good tax work go together. We review opportunities for tax efficiency across your accounts and your income sources. When helpful, we meet with your CPA to coordinate decisions such as Roth conversions, charitable giving strategies, and the timing of withdrawals.

Estate Planning

We help you think through legacy goals and family needs. That includes reviewing wills, developing beneficiary strategies, and coordinating account titling. We are always available to meet with your estate attorney to ensure that documents and accounts work together.

Ongoing Guidance

Planning does not end when your initial plan is delivered or when the investments are set up. We speak with you regularly to discuss changing goals and new needs. We meet in person at least once a year to review the plan, the portfolio, and your progress, and to make any needed adjustments. We also monitor changes in tax law, estate rules, and retirement plan regulations so you stay ahead of them.

We Are Fee-Only Retirement Advisors

Our sole basis of client compensation, as a fee only financial planner, is advisory fees. Our “Fee-Only” (commission free) approach to retirement financial planning and investment management allows us to avoid advisor/client conflicts of interest and always place your best interest first.

Our Advisory Fees are All Inclusive

Standard Platform Fee Schedule

Our Standard Platform Fee Schedule applies to clients with a portfolio over $1 million. The annual percentage cost for portfolios valued between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 begins at 1.25% and declines incrementally to 1%, declining further for larger portfolios. Portfolios under $1,000,000 are subject to a minimum quarterly fee. Your cost is determined by the aggregate value of your assets under our management (401k, IRA, Personal). As your account value increases, your annual cost percentage incrementally decreases.

As fee-only financial planners and investment managers, our fee schedule is all inclusive… planning and investment management.
